1. School lunch price increase
Kathy Casparius, Business Manager, said the USDA is asking us to increase school lunch prices to $3.00. Maureen Thompson is recommending an increase of lunches at Cony from $2.75 to $3.00 and an increase at elementary schools from $2.25 to $2.50. Ms. Thompson compared our prices to other districts in our area and they are comparable.
Motion by Michael Michaud to increase the school lunch prices from $2.75 to $3.00 at Cony and from $2.25 to $2.50 for elementary schools. Second by Amanda Olson, so moved 3-0.
2. Copier Contract
Kathy Casparius said the ASD has had a copier contract for at least the last six years through Specialized Purchasing Consultants, Inc. They do the bidding and management of copier sales and services and are paid a yearly fee. The contract with SPC is expiring. Currently our copiers are on leased purchase and the ASD pays almost $50,000 per year. Ms. Casparius says she would like to go out and get our own copier bids and will work with Jon Stonier who has experience with that type of bidding process.
Motion by Michael Michaud to go out and get our own bid for copiers, second by Amanda Olson, so moved 3-0.
3. Transportation Contract
Ms. Casparius said the transportation contract expires June 30, 2020. It will go out to bid and asked the board what they would like to see added to the contract. Some new items being considered are additional cameras and busses that are internet ready. Mr. Hastings would like to add language to the contract that busses be less than 5 years old with a max 70,000 miles. Mr. Anastasio said he and Ms. Casparius will do an RFP and then bring it to the board for input.
Mr. Clarke asked about the proposed new school. Mr. Anastasio said Hussey school is #9 on the State’s list for new schools. He has not heard anything from the State. He suggested the board hold a workshop to start discussing things they will need to start thinking about.
At the next meeting Kathy Casparius would like to review/update all the new labor laws coming up and the impact they will have on the school department.
Meeting adjourned at 6:30 p.m.
