MEDICAL/VETERINARIAN TERMINOLOGY

Medical Terminology refers to the words and language used specifically in the medical and health fields.  Its purpose is to allow healthcare professionals to accurately describe and communicate about patient conditions, diagnoses and treatments.  Veterinary medicine is a speciality concerned with prevention, control, diagnosis and treatment of diseases affecting the health of domestic and wild animals and with the prevention of transmission of animal diseases to people.  This challenging college level course offers material presented in differentiated lessons.  Medical terminology is covered the first three quarters and veterinary terminology is covered during the fourth quarter.  There will be guest speakers from area colleges and local businesses and tours to local nursing homes and medical facilities throughout the school year.  In the spring, students will volunteer during class time at the Kennebec Humane Society.
