It is a pleasure to welcome you this year as the Principal of Farrington Elementary School. Farrington has excellent teachers with strong instructional skills and a depth of knowledge that serves our students well. After an abrupt end to our in person instruction last spring, we are all eager to get started with our students this Fall. I anticipate a successful school year working with you to prepare your children for a bright future.
Our teachers will be using the Seesaw platform for Grade K-2 and Google Classroom for grades 3-6. All independent remote learning assignments will be placed on these sites. Grades K & 1 will begin the year with paper packets for their remote learning.
I first began teaching in the elementary schools in Augusta in 1987 after receiving my Bachelor's degree from the University of Maine. I moved to Cony High School in 1999 where I remained until coming to Farrington in 2015. I received my Masters in Education from the University of New England and then took additional courses for administration certification at Thomas College in Waterville. I have a great pride and passion for the Augusta School Department and was thrilled to be able to make the move into administration while still remaining in this district .
Our staff works hard to build strong relationships between parents, students, staff, and community partners to continue the legacy of success established at Farrington. We focus on fostering a nurturing safe environment for all of our children. Students are required to wear masks at all times except when they are eating or taking a designated mask break. Students will also need to maintain a social distance of 3 feet from other students (6 feet when eating) and 6 feet from staff members. We feel confident that the adjustment to our new normal will be successful once we are all back.
Our priority is to ensure that all Farrington students receive the best education possible. Every decision I make will be in each student’s best interest. As Principal, my door is always open and I welcome your input. Please feel free to stop in or call to make an appointment to discuss any concerns or ideas.
I look forward to meeting you all throughout this school year and working with your children.
