Our teachers believe that all students can reach high levels of learning. We employ the Pre-K for ME curriculum in our early childhood classrooms which was developed specifically for Maine students by the Department of Education. If you would like more information about the specific program developed by the DOE, please see https://www.maine.gov/doe/learning/earlychildhood/PreK4ME. This will be our first year to use this curriculum, and we are looking forward to the success that it will bring for our students in future years.
We promote a love of learning through half-day sessions. Children age 4 are enrolled in either the a.m. (8:00-11:00) or the p.m. (12:00-2:45) session for 4 days per week. We currently have three classroom teachers who work in partnership with a classroom ed tech. All teachers and ed techs are trained in the Pre-K for ME Curriculum.
Each day begins with a bus ride to school. Children are asked to sit near the front of the bus and seat belts are required. In order to ensure your child’s safety. Teachers receive children at school and parents are expected to meet their child getting off the bus when returning home.
If you wish to sign your child up for the Pre-K program, please call us here at Gilbert School 626-2491. We look forward to meeting you and your child.
