Speech Language Pathologist
Hi! My name is Nicole Benoit and I am the speech-language pathologist at Gilbert Elementary School. I grew up in Maine and completed my undergraduate and graduate work at the University of Maine in Orono, graduating with a Master’s degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders in May 2000. I obtained my Certificate of Clinical Competence in 2001 and am a member of the American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA) and the Maine Speech-Language Hearing Association (MSLHA).
After completing my education, I started working with preschool children at Maine Center for Integrated Rehabilitation. This is also where I had the opportunity to work with adults with traumatic brain injuries. I have provided school based speech-language therapy services in a number of schools including Milo-Brownville, the Unorganized Territory of Dennysville, Machias, Winslow and the Maranacook schools. Prior to coming to the Augusta School Department in the fall of 2010, I spent nine years at the Children’s Center in Augusta, working as part of a transdisciplinary team for toddlers and preschoolers .
I am excited to be working with students and their families in Augusta. I am also happy to be working with a dynamic crew at Gilbert School. 2020-2021 is going to be a great year! I will be using Google sites for students.
