students gather to play outside for Gilbert's Winter Games

Students at Gilbert Elementary School took part in their second WinterKids Winter Games this year. Students were inside and out, making snowflakes using marshmallows, and playing musical chairs in the elements.

The 4-week competition between 16 schools aims to get kids active outdoors with a chance to earn cash and prizes for their schools. Points are earned through completing challenges and schools can win money based on how many points they earn.

"It makes the kids really happy; they get to play outside more, keeps them really active which is great" - Principal Christina Boursaw.
