Having previously worked with Dr. Sikora at RSU 4 Adult Education, Mrs. Stowell knew she’d finally found a Director to support and challenge her professionally. She was employed as a 21st Century Site Coordinator at Lewiston High School, aligning academic, enrichment, and workforce development opportunities for students aligned with advancement to Program Coordinator in March 2023.

Since then, Mrs. Gilzow has worked on organizing professional development for staff members, expanding program development in outdoor education through a unique collaboration with Augusta Parks and Recreation, and establishing Career Exploration opportunities with Augusta Child Care for students aged 16-24 years old.

Her teaching philosophy emphasizes the cognitive development perspective; where students learn best by exploring their environments. Establishing connections between their stories and those in history, recognizing growth and advancements, setbacks and challenges. Helping students create meaningful associations between new materials, information already achieved, and how to apply the new material in their everyday lives.
