Dear Middle SchoolParent(s)/Guardian(s),
The Cony Middle School Quarter 1 Awards Assemblies are scheduled for November 14th - 16th & 20th, 2023 in the Cony Auditorium. We will have four different assemblies; one for each middle school team. We find the smaller gathering is more supportive of the efforts of the students receiving awards and provides better recognition from their peers and parents. Please check with your child as to which assembly you should attend based upon their teachers’ names.
Awards are given for high honors (All A’s 93-100), honors (A’s and B’s 85-100), meeting expectations for appropriate behaviors (no detentions or suspensions), and special recognition to a student(s) who demonstrates positive attributes in each of the core subject areas and UA classes.
All assemblies will be held from 10:45-11:10 am
November 14th-Gr 8 Team Sugarloaf-- Bourgeois/Maines/Savadge/Monroe
November 15th-Gr 7 Team Saddleback---Smith/Lasselle/Daiute/Allen
November 16th-Gr 7 Team Cadillac—Haulk/Perkins/Albison/Hunt
November 20th-Gr 8 Team Katahdin—Coston/Darby/Colburn/Jackman
We look forward to this quarterly special event and would be honored to have you join us to help our students celebrate their success. We welcome parents/guardians/caregivers to check in at the main office at 10:40am. You will be shown to the auditorium by a staff member.
Thank you for all you do to support your student!

Attention Athletes and Families
5 Cony German students attended the New Hampshire World Language Day sponsored by the University of New Hampshire. They had a campus tour, ate lunch at the Commons and heard from UNH students and faculty about how pairing any degree with a world language makes you that much more marketable in the work force. Did you know the Maine students can get discounted tuition at New England universities if Maine doesn’t offer the major they want?
Our football team won against Messalonskee last night 28-14. The win puts the team in the B North Championship this Saturday! This is the first regional final in 10 years. Go Rams!
Some of our athletes participated in a Leadership Conference this week.
Our first Middle School Dance was last night! It went great! Thank you to the Middle School Parent Group and all the chaperones!
Go Rams!

November 3, 2023
Dear Cony Families,
The safety and well-being of our students and staff are our top priorities. In light of recent events and as part of our commitment to open communication, we want to provide further information about the incident yesterday at Cony Middle and High School.
Yesterday, there was a report from a concerned student regarding a possible weapon on school premises. We take all such reports seriously, and our dedicated staff and Augusta Police Department immediately launched an investigation to ensure the safety and security of our school community.
We want to reassure you that we took all necessary steps to address this situation swiftly and effectively. The student quickly contained and we went into a lock in protocols. After a thorough and extensive investigation yesterday and today, the evidence shows that a holster that resembled a gun was brought to school. The holster, which part of it looked like a gun, was shown to several students. The students were told that it was a gun. A student reported the situation to our staff and SRO around lunch time. We can assure you that our security protocols and safety measures were activated and our school remains a safe and secure environment for all students and staff. Appropriate disciplinary action has been taken and a student has been charged.
Through our investigation, some of our students saw the holster earlier in the day. With this in mind, we would like to take this opportunity to remind everyone of the “See Something, Say Something” approach. If a student or staff member becomes aware of any information, concern, or potential threat to the safety of our school community, we encourage them to report it immediately to a trusted adult or school authority. Also, there is an anonymous hotline (620-8009) through the Augusta Police Department. By working together, we can maintain a safe and supportive learning environment.
We are committed to ensuring that our students, teachers and staff can focus on their educational and personal growth without fear or distraction. We are also continuously reviewing and improving our security measures to maintain the highest level of safety.
We understand that incidents like these can be unsettling, and we appreciate your support in helping us maintain a safe environment for our students and staff. Please know that our Guidance staff members are available to provide support for any of our students or staff members.
If you have any concerns or questions, please do not hesitate to contact Cony’s administration.
Thank you so much.

North B Field Hockey Champions!! Congratulations to this amazing team! Go Rams!
Cony staff and School Resource Officer received concerning information that a Cony high school student may have had a weapon in school around early afternoon. Cony Administration and the School Resource Officer quickly began to investigate the concern. The student involved was quickly contained. The decision was made to go into a “lock-in” protocol because the concern could not be quickly invalidated. The Augusta Police responded immediately to help mitigate any safety concerns. It was deemed safe to dismiss the students with increased police presence. School activities were cancelled out of an abundance of caution. It is our plan to resume regular school activities tomorrow with an increased police presence.
