SAM GOLDEY RECEIVES MPA PRINCIPAL'S AWARD at Cony High School
(Augusta, Maine)—Sam Goldey of Augusta a senior at Cony High School, has been selected to receive the 2024 Principal's Award, Principal Liscomb announced today. The award, sponsored by the Maine Principals' Association, is given in recognition of a high school senior's academic achievement and citizenship.
Principal Liscomb commented, “Sam has enriched the halls, classroom, fields, and activities of Cony High School since he has been at Cony. We are so lucky to have a student like Sam at our school. Sam is a captain of both the cross country and track teams. He is the class president, vice president of the Cony Key Club, and president of Chizzle Wizzle and president of NHS. In addition to his hard work outside the classroom, Sam is the Valedictorian for Cony’s Class of 2024. Sam is entering the field of civil and environmental engineering and is still deciding which college to attend in the fall. We are so proud of him and believe that he is so deserving of this prestigious honor.”
Sam Goldey and Principal Liscomb and other award winners and their principals will attend an Honors Luncheon at Jeff’s Catering on Saturday, April 6, 2024 at 12:30 p.m.
The Honors Luncheon recognizes these outstanding students with the presentation of an individual plaque and the awarding of ten $1,000 scholarships in the names of former Maine principals and MPA Executive Directors: Horace O. McGowan, Richard W. Tyler, and Richard A. Durost.
The Principal's Award is presented in more than 100 Maine public and private high schools by member principals of the MPA, the professional association which represents Maine's school administrators.
Our 8th graders are signing up for high school classes. To prepare, they had a presentation by a group of high school students and another presentation by Guidance Director Laura Richardson. There is a 8th grade Open House for parents/guardians on March 19th at 6:00pm.

Be sure to communicate the reason for the absence. State law identifies 6 reasons for excused absences (personal illness, appointment with health professional that must happen during the school day, observance of a recognize religious holiday, family emergency, preapproved educational/personal absence, or educational disruption). SNOW DAY MAKE UP PLAN
Augusta School Department
FEB 26, 2024
Dear Augusta School Families,
The School Board recently approved a plan to make-up some of our snow days so that we have fewer student days to make-up in June. Currently, and unless we experience more storm related cancelations, the plan for the remainder of the year is as follows:
Convert March 6, 2024 and April 24, 2024 Early Release days to full student days, and convert the full teacher workshop day back to a student day on March 15, 2024. This plan allows us to capture back 2 full student days, currently making our last student day June 12, 2024 (Farrington Elementary June 13, 2024). Please keep in mind that other weather related cancelations will change this last day of school.
Chizzle Wizzle Tickets will be on sale for students starting Tuesday, February 27th during lunches and after school. Tickets cost $10 and they will be sold by class.
Tuesday February 27th for Seniors
Wednesday February 28th for Juniors
Thursday February 29th for Sophomores
Friday March 1st for Freshmen/Middle Schoolers
