This week, leaders from the Augusta School Department attended the Impact 2023 Annual Summit, an event that brings together community leaders, innovators, and visionaries to shape the future of our region. Jon Millett, Assistant Principal at Cony High School, delivered a presentation on expanding access to quality early learning experiences for children and families in Kennebec County, ensuring a strong educational foundation before entering kindergarten.

One of our district's key goals is Wellness and Safety, with a specific focus on supporting and improving staff attendance. To recognize and celebrate our dedicated staff, Superintendent Tracy and Assistant Superintendent Wotton hold monthly drawings for those with perfect attendance. Winners of the drawing have their class or position covered by Mr. Tracy or Mrs. Wotton for an afternoon, giving them a well-deserved break and a little fun for the lucky classrooms! In October, Mrs. Wotton joined a classroom at Cony, while Mr. Tracy helped run the library at Lincoln Elementary School. Special thanks to Ms. Lewis and Mrs. Thompson for sharing your spaces and for your commitment to our district!

A year ago, our school district embarked on a journey to update our logo, recognizing that our previous design was due for a refresh. As part of this process, we considered simply revamping the existing letterhead into an official logo, but we also wanted to open up the creative process to the community. So, we launched a public logo design competition and were thrilled to receive 10 submissions from talented members of our community! Throughout several Technology and Curriculum Board Committee meetings, we carefully reviewed each design and narrowed it down to one outstanding submission by Josee Cloutier. At a summer workshop meeting the School Board had a lengthy conversation, and ultimate vote, on whether we should move forward with a revamped version of our previous letterhead or adopt the new design. At the August Board of Education Meeting, the Board voted to reinstate our classic letterhead with some edits. We are excited to unveil the updated design, which will soon be featured across all Central Office communications. We want to extend a heartfelt thank you to the following people who submitted a design for the competition: Hailey Smart, Ryan Pelletier, Lucas Knowles, Josee Cloutier, Courtney Gary-Allen, Hannah Duguie, Aspen Sun, and Brayden O’Connor. Your creativity and support made this process a huge success. The top designs are showcased below for all to see. Thank you again for being part of this journey with us! Stay tuned for more updates as we roll out the new logo across the district.
