Today is School Bus Driver Appreciation Day, and it's the perfect opportunity to recognize and thank these dedicated individuals who play such a vital role in our children's lives. From the early mornings to the late afternoons, rain or shine, First Student drivers ensure our kids get to and from school safely every single day. As a result of the storm: Cony MS/HS, Lincoln Elementary, Farrington Elementary, and Gilbert Elementary will have a TWO hour delay today, April 5th. Hussey Elementary will have no school (due to power outages).

The School Board had the opportunity to participate in a virtual field trip at last night’s Technology Committee meeting using the district’s new VR equipment. They visited a Chinese temple and the Sistine Chapel. They also partook in a virtual simulation of a border checkpoint at the Berlin Wall during the Cold War and Jay Gatsby’s mansion from the book ‘The Great Gatsby.’ This equipment was funded by the ‘Teach with Tech’ grant from the Maine DOE.

Due to inclement weather, all Augusta Schools are closed today, January 10th, 2024. All offices will open at 11am.
We know many homes are still without power and the flooding has caused major damage across the city. You are in our thoughts, and additionally we thank maintenance and custodian crews who have been working endlessly to care for our schools. Most Augusta schools have had power restored and are ready to welcome students back. There will be school on Thursday, 12/21/2023, for all schools except Farrington Elementary (which is still without power).
